What is Explore?

Explore lets you take control of your data once it’s been unified with the Faraday Identity Graph’s hundreds of responsible cookieless, offline attributes. Create segments in the Segments console and visualize them alongside your personas & cohorts in the Map view, then compare your segments, personas, & cohorts with the U.S. baseline in the Analysis tab. Accessing Explore

To access Explore, click the Explore icon in the menu panel on the left-hand side of the app.


Navigating Explore

In the navigation box in the upper left of Explore, you’ll find a few options that you can select to visualize the various personas, segments, and cohorts unique to your brand. Click on any number of options and they’ll load on the map in different colors for comparison. Enabling any of the below options in Explore the first time will take time to load, and you’ll receive an email once they’re ready.

Personas - Your personas are groups of your customers clustered by their highest-coverage common attributes. In this menu, you’ll find your personas listed by name within the cohort that they exist in. You’ll only see personas in this menu if you’ve toggled the Available in Explore option in the Cohorts console.

Segments - Your segments are national populations grouped by attributes of your choice. They’re created in the Segments console, which can be accessed via Consoles → Segments, or the Manage segments button in the Segments list in Explore. You’ll only see segments in this menu if you’ve toggled the Available in Explore option in the Segments console.

Cohorts - Your cohorts are important subgroups of your customers–leads, customers, churned customers, and so on. They’re groups of people who have all experienced the same event or interaction with your brand. You’ll only see cohorts in this menu if you’ve toggled the Available in Explore option in the Cohorts console.


Analysis view

Explore’s Analysis view provides the same set of selectable personas, segments, and cohorts, and allows you to compare them to one another as well as to the U.S. baseline across hundreds of attributes relevant to your brand. Simply select the personas, segments, and cohorts you’d like to compare, then pick an attribute to compare against in the menu on the right-hand side.


The Segments console

The Segments console is where you’ll find your existing segments, create new ones, and make them available for use in Explore. To access it, select it from the consoles menu in the left-hand sidebar, or click Manage segments in the segments menu within Explore.

To create a segment, select New segment in the upper right-hand corner of the console. Search for the attributes you’d like to include in the segment, and fine tune the attribute’s criteria in the menu that appears when clicking an attribute. When ready, click Save. Once saved, your segment will begin building, and you’ll receive an email when it’s ready for use–until then, it’ll be grayed out in the console. Once the segment's status is Ready, you can use it in the Reach and Monitor products.

To enable the segment for use in Explore’s Map & Analysis views, use the toggle in the Available in Explore column. If you’d like to edit, duplicate, or delete a segment in the Segments console, use the appropriate icons in the Actions column.

Segment creation tips

  • When selecting age as an attribute, always select one year beyond the year you're targeting. Looking to target customers 20-30 years of age? Select 20-31 year olds on the slider.
